Converting Lumens to Millicandela
Millicandela ($mcd$) represents one thousandth of a candela ($cd$). To calculate millicandelas from total light flux output in lumens, we divide lumens by the beam solid angle ($\Omega$) and multiply by $1000$:
$$mcd = \frac{lm}{2\pi \left(1 - \cos\left(\frac{\theta}{2}\right)\right)} \times 1000$$
Where $\theta$ is the apex beam angle in degrees. Narrow beam angles produce extremely high millicandela values for the same lumen level.
