PPM, PPB, PPT & Percent Converter

Convert between parts-per-million (ppm), parts-per-billion (ppb), parts-per-trillion (ppt), and percentage instantly.

What is the Parts-Per-Million (PPM) Converter?

The Parts-Per-Million (PPM) converter translates extreme fractional ratios. It is heavily utilized in chemistry and ecology to measure minute traces of contaminants in water or gases in the atmosphere.

How It Works (Formula)

A percent represents "parts per hundred" ($10^{-2}$). A PPM represents "parts per million" ($10^{-6}$). Therefore, a single PPM is exactly 10,000 times smaller than a percent. To convert a percent to PPM, multiply by 10,000.

$$ x_{(\text{ppm})} = x_{(\%)} \times 10,000 $$

The fractional multiplier used to convert percentages into PPM.

How to Use It

The tool is bi-directional. You can enter a decimal or percentage to calculate the exact PPM equivalent. Conversely, you can enter a PPM reading (like 400 PPM of Carbon Dioxide) to see what tiny fraction of a percentage that represents.
