What is the Height Predictor Calculator?
The Height Calculator is a pediatric tool used to predict a child's final adult height based on genetics. While environmental factors like nutrition play a role, genetics is the primary determinant of stature.
How It Works (Formula)
This calculator relies on the Khamis-Roche method and the traditional Mid-Parental Height formula. It mathematically averages the heights of the biological mother and father, adding 2.5 inches for boys and subtracting 2.5 inches for girls.
$$ \text{Boys} = \frac{\text{Mom} + \text{Dad}}{2} + 2.5\text{ inches} $$
Girls subtract 2.5 inches from the parental average.
How to Use It
Enter the biological father's height and the biological mother's height. Select the gender of the child. The tool will output the predicted adult height with a standard deviation margin of error.
