What is the Wind Chill Calculator?

The Wind Chill Calculator determines how cold the air actually feels on human skin. Because wind accelerates the rate of heat loss from the body, a windy 30°F day can feel significantly more dangerous and cold than a still 30°F day.

How It Works (Formula)

This tool uses the official National Weather Service (NWS) Wind Chill Index formula. The equation calculates the rate of heat loss using the current ambient air temperature and the current wind speed.

$$ W = 35.74 + 0.6215T - 35.75(V^{0.16}) + 0.4275T(V^{0.16}) $$

Where T is temperature in Fahrenheit and V is wind speed in mph.

How to Use It

Simply input the current outside air temperature (in Fahrenheit or Celsius) and the current wind speed. The calculator will instantly process the NWS equation to tell you the perceived "feels like" temperature.
