What is the Gravel Calculator?

The Gravel Calculator is a landscaping tool that converts the dimensions of your driveway or yard project into the physical weight and volume of gravel you need to purchase. It is critical for ordering bulk deliveries from quarries.

How It Works (Formula)

First, the calculator finds the cubic volume of the trench by multiplying length, width, and depth. Second, it multiplies that volume by the specific density of gravel (typically around 105 pounds per cubic foot) to tell you how many tons to order.

$$ \text{Weight (Tons)} = \frac{\text{Volume (ft}^3) \times \text{Density}}{2000} $$

Standard crushed gravel weighs approximately 1.4 tons per cubic yard.

How to Use It

Input the length and width of the path or driveway. Select your desired depth (usually 2-4 inches). The calculator will output the required cubic yards, and more importantly, the total weight in Tons so you know what size truck is needed.
